TEACHING PERFORMANCE

Dr. Greg Thompson, Former Program Director
Family and Child Studies Program, McNeese State University (Former Department Chair, Lamar University)
I am blessed to have had the pleasure of seeing Janeal's progress from a master's student who put her university's Family Studies program on the proverbial map with her award-winning research, to now, becoming an integral part of what we do at McNeese State as we work to grow to something special benefiting family life quality on the Gulf Coast. She clearly embodies the idea of "excellence with a personal touch," the MSU tag line, and has distinguished herself as both a leader and an innovator.

Ms. Sandra Whitehead, Former Student
Family and Child Studies Program, McNeese State University
I am honored to have been in Ms. White’s class. It was a learning experience like no other. Her method of teaching is a mixture of both art and science lending itself to transdisciplinary skills. She goes above and beyond standard lectures and power points to engage students. Ms. White’s use of “learning logs” - something I had not experienced in any of my other classes – afforded me an opportunity to learn in a way that kept me excited about the subject. I am inspired by her creativity, enthusiasm, and passion for family life. Ms. White is personable and approachable. She gives freely of her time and cares about the future of her students. I consider her one of my finest mentors.

Mr. Jacob Joiner, Former Student
Family Studies Program, Lamar University
Ms. White's class work and homework assignments are not what you would typically see as a student. The work can come off as hard and taxing at first but if you do it with an open mind and step out of your comfort zone, you will see an abundance of growth in yourself and you will build meaningful relationships along the way.

Ms. Barbara Buria, Former Student
Family and Child Studies Program, McNeese State University
Mrs. White has made my online learning experience feel personable. She also has displayed genuine interest and encouraged me in my work, making the classes I have taken with her feel less intimidating and left me feeling more inspired to want to continue learning about the topics discussed even when finishing the coursework.
I really appreciated her feedback on projects and work in her courses, taking the time to give me a better explanation of coursework I was having a hard time understanding, and sharing parts of her journey with me about her academics and career.
She has challenged me with her style of teaching and the internship placement she has put me. This has given me opportunities to learn and face topics I never would have considered before. How she has challenged me has helped me continue to grow as a student and individual. When completing her courses I feel more confident in my work and capable of whatever career opportunity I may be led to upon graduation!
"A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning" -Brad Henry
Mrs. White is the true definition of a good teacher!

"One of the best instructors I have had with my online experience at McNeese. I have learned so much taking her courses and really enjoy the structure of her course.
